Wilfried Zaha has told Crystal Palace he wants to leave this summer amid reported interest from Arsenal.
That’s according to Sky Sports who report that Zaha has made a transfer request following his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ivory Coast international winger is reportedly Arsenal boss Unai Emery’s number one summer target and has been since he scored against the Gunners in a 3-2 win at the Emirates Stadium in April.
Arsenal have reportedly already had one bid of around £40m rejected by Palace this summer and the 26-year-old has been valued at closer to £70m.
Speaking on Tuesday, Eagles boss Roy Hodgson outlined the current state of play with Zaha.
“I don’t think Arsenal have actually made a bid that has come anywhere near our valuation,” Hodgson told Sky Sports.
“I’m sure the player realises that if someone’s going to take him away from us, he’ll expect clubs to pay the market value.
“Until someone does that, there’s not much to discuss regarding Wilf.”
There have been suggestions that Arsenal could try to include one or two players in the deal, while Zaha’s determination to leave Selhurst Park this summer could also bring the price down somewhat.
The former Manchester United winger represented his country at the AFCON in Egypt this summer, where they were eliminated on penalties by Algeria at the quarter-final stage.
