Although the Dutch still have one qualifier against Estonia remaining on Tuesday, Van Dijk will play no part, the Football Association have confirmed.

“Coach Ronaldo Koeman will not count on Virgil van Dijk on Tuesday against Estonia,” read a statement.

“The captain of the Dutch national team will not take part due to personal circumstances.

“He has now left the Oranje training camp.”

The Netherlands have already secured their place at Euro 2020, with their star man now set to return to Liverpool.

Next up for his side at club level is a Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.
