Thomas Müller has slammed the way his Germany career appeared to end on Tuesday.

A statement released by the DFB (German FA) and Germany boss Joachim Löw said Müller will no longer be considered for the national team as Germany look to recover from a disappointing year and move on with a younger generation.

Along with Müller, Bayern Munich defenders Mats Hummels and Jérôme Boateng also seemingly had time called on their international careers.

Müller has now responded, more than 24 hours later, with a message on social media.

“I’ve had a night to sleep on it and let the events of yesterday sink in,” the 29-year-old began.

“I was perplexed by the sudden decision of the national team coach.

“The coach has to make sporting decisions, absolutely, I would never question that, but the more I think about the way that this has been done it just makes me angry.

“I can’t understand the suggested finality of the decision,” Müller added.

Löw’s words on Tuesday suggested the three World Cup winners will not be considered for future Germany squads.

“Mats, Jérôme and I are still in a position to play top level football,” Müller continued.

“Together, with the DFB, we have trodden a long, intense and, most of all, successful path in recent years.

“When, shortly after we learned of the decision, pre-prepared statements were released by the DFB and the DFB president, that’s simply, in my view, not a good style and shows no appreciation.

“I was always proud to wear the DFB shirt. I have always given my all. It was an unbelievable journey. I am a fighter and will look ahead.

“The game isn’t over yet.”
