Real Betis have confirmed the arrival of Rubi as their new head coach.
The 49-year-old joins after one season in charge of Espanyol.
Rubi previously led Huesca to promotion and finished 7th with Espanyol last season, three points clear of Betis, who ended the season in 10th.
Espanyol have replaced Rubi with David Gallego.
The former midfielder spent five games in charge as interim boss in 2018, winning four of them.
He had since returned to his role as Espanyol B head coach but is now in charge of the first team on a permanent basis.
