Despite hinting that his future could lie elsewhere on Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain have announced that Kylian Mbappé will not be leaving the club this summer after all.

Speaking after receiving the Ligue 1 Player of the Season award in a ceremony in Paris, Mbappé appeared to be sending a message to PSG that he was ready to move on.

“I feel that it is time for me to have more responsibility,” said the 20-year-old.

“Maybe here in Paris, I would be happy, or maybe somewhere else then.

“I am at a turning point in my career.”

Rumours swirled on Monday about possible moves to Real Madrid, Barcelona and a host of other top European clubs.

But on Monday evening, the French champions moved to quash speculation with a short statement released via their official Twitter account.

“Mbappé and PSG have been strongly united in the last couple of years and the common history will continue next season,” read the statement.

“With the common ambition to mark the history of European football, on the 50 year anniversary of the club, a long-awaited moment, to write together a great page of the club’s history in which each major player will have to do his part, always working for the team/collective.”

Reports in France over the weekend suggested the World Cup winner is interested in moving to a more challenging league and is also keen to win the Champions League as soon as possible.

But PSG don’t need the money they’d get from selling him, and it looks like he will be staying put.
