Kevin De Bruyne will miss Wednesday’s Manchester derby with a muscular injury.

However, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has not ruled out the possibility of the Belgian featuring again before the end of the season.

De Bruyne has already missed 26 games through injury this season and was forced off in the first half of Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham.

There were fears that the 27-year-old had suffered a knee injury which would rule him out for the rest of the season, but it seems the problem is actually less severe.

“I don’t know. It’s a muscular problem we will see in next days how he will do but tomorrow no,” Guardiola told reporters when asked if De Bruyne could feature against Manchester United.

“We will see if he can play one or two more games and next season take care of him.

“We are going to speak with him, with the doctors and physios to make sure he is safe and fit.

“That’s what we are trying to do from now on.”

City travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday before a trip to face Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday.

Their remaining Premier League fixtures will see them host Leicester before they travel to Brighton on the final day.

They will also face Watford in the FA Cup final on 18 May.
