It never rains, it pours.
With Manchester City already without the services of star centre-back Aymeric Laporte to a long-term injury, the last thing they needed was any more bad news on that front.
Unfortunately, Pep Guardiola announced ahead of City’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk that John Stones has joined him on the treatment table.
“John Stones picked up an injury this morning,” the City boss said.
“It will be four or five weeks, it is a muscular problem.”
That leaves Nicolás Otamendi as City’s only fit senior centre-back as things stand.
He, of course, endured a horror show last weekend in his side’s surprise 3-2 loss away to Norwich City.
Fernandinho will likely fill in at central defence due to the latest injury, with Kyle Walker also an option.
