Manchester United are set to name Harry Maguire their new club captain.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed the decision on Friday.
“Harry is the captain,” said the United manager.
Everything about him tells me is a leader. Harry will keep wearing the armband now.
Current captain Ashley Young is on the verge of completing a move to Inter after eight-and-a-half seasons at Old Trafford.
Signed for a club record £80m fee in the summer, Maguire was immediately earmarked as future United captain.
“He is definitely a character and a personality that can be a captain of a big club,” Solskjaer said back in September.
“He’s a leader in the dressing room – by performances, presence, stature and behaviour.
“He’s a character that you’d say you’d like to follow. Some are technical leaders, some are leaders by voice and he’s got the lot really.”
The ex-Leicester defender has led Manchester United out in nine different games already this season.
