The penultimate weekend of the Bundesliga saw both Nürnberg and Hannover relegated automatically.

Both still had brief hope of being able to catch Stuttgart, who had occupied the relegation play-off position.

However, Stuttgart’s 3-0 win over Wolfsburg ensured that the two teams below them were down regardless of their results.

In any case, Hannover signed off at home with a 3-0 victory against Freiburg which at least gave their fans something small to smile about.
