Juventus have confirmed that Merih Demiral has undergone knee surgery and will be out for six to seven months.
Demiral sustained the injury during Juve’s 2-1 victory over Roma on Sunday, where he also scored the game’s opening goal.
And on Tuesday evening, the Bianconeri released a statement via their official website confirming the Turkish defender’s diagnosis.
“Merih Demiral this evening has been subjected to surgery for reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament and suture of the lateral meniscus in his left knee,” read the statement.
“The operation, performed at the Hochrum clinic in Innsbruck by Professor Christian Fink in the presence of Juventus social doctor Tzouroudis, was perfectly successful .
“The time needed for an optimal recovery is 6-7 months.”
Demiral joined the Serie A champions from Sassuolo this summer and has so far made just seven first-team appearances for the club.
Prior to his injury, the 21-year-old was linked with a potential January move to several clubs in Europe.
