Frosinone are following Chievo from Serie A to Serie B after failing to win on Sunday.
The Italian club needed to beat Sassuolo to have any chance of staying up but could only manage a 2-2 draw.
Relegation was almost delayed in the dying moments, when Frosinone thought they’d taken the lead, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Frosinone were last relegated in 2016 but earned promotion back to Italy’s top flight last season.
However, they have not done enough to stay there, losing 21 of 35 games and scoring just 26 goals.
