Following on from his Super Cup heroics, Adrian may now miss Liverpool’s trip to Southampton on Saturday.

The goalkeeper came into the team for Alisson on Wednesday after the Brazilian suffered an injury on the opening day of the season.

Adrian went on to save Tammy Abraham’s penalty in the shoot-out to win Liverpool the trophy. He could now, though, miss Saturday’s Premier League clash after a freak injury.

While Liverpool celebrated on Wednesday, a fan ran on the pitch and slipped, hitting Adrian’s ankle.

“It’s swollen at the moment,” Klopp told reporters on Friday.

“Unbelievable.”

Liverpool do not know how long Alisson will be out but it will be a number of weeks, Klopp confirmed earlier in the week.

The Reds have signed Andy Londergan on a short-term contract and the 35-year-old may now have to make his debut for the club at the St Mary’s Stadium.

The 35-year-old has never played in the Premier League and made just seven appearances in League One last season while on loan with Rochdale.
