The announcement of FIFPRO’s men’s world XI at The Best awards in Milan has thrown up more than a few shocks.
A total of 55 names had been shortlisted for inclusion in the side.
The selection of the side is made thanks to votes from professionals across the globe.
But their picks are set to cause plenty of controversy – with four Real Madrid players making the cut despite a disappointing year.
That is more than any other side, with Liverpool contributing two along with Juventus and Barcelona, although Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong enjoyed their best form at Ajax.
Incredibly, despite Manchester City dominating domestic football and completing an unprecedented treble, there is no representation from Pep Guardiola’s side!
