Fifa have approved Declan Rice’s switch of international allegiance from Republic of Ireland to England.

Rice revealed via his social media two weeks ago that after some consideration he would be turning his back on Mick McCarthy’s side and instead opting to represent the Three Lions.

And now world football’s governing body have confirmed that the switch has been approved, in time for the West Ham youngster to get his first call-up for Gareth Southgate’s men on Wednesday.

Southgate will name his squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro tomorrow, with Rica set for inclusion.

Rice played three times for Republic of Ireland, but as all of his caps came in friendly matches he was free to switch countries.
