Athletic Club have parted company with coach Eduardo Berizzo with immediate effect.
Former player Gaizka Garitano – who was previously in charge of the club’s B team – will take over.
Former Sevilla boss Berizzo only took over at San Mamés in May 2018 but the 49-year-old Argentine leaves the club having managed just two wins from his 15 matches in charge.
Garitano – who played for both Los Leones and fierce Basque rivals Real Sociedad – has previously coached Eibar, Real Valladolid and Deportivo de La Coruña.
His first match in charge will be Thursday’s Copa del Rey trip to Huesca – a tie which Athletic lead 4-0 from the first leg.
