In their first season in the Champions League, Atalanta defied the odds to reach the knockout stage and now host Valencia in Milan in the last 16.

Los Che do have a poor record in the peninsula, winning on just one of their eight trip to Italy – a 1-0 win over Roma in the 2002/03 group stage thanks to a John Carew strike.

Atalanta made history en route to reaching this stage of the competition, becoming the first team ever to qualify in the current format (a single group stage) after losing their first three games.
