Arsenal will be without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for three games after their appeal against his red card tackle against Crystal Palace was rejected.

The Gunners captain was initially shown a yellow card by referee Paul Tierney for his tackle on Max Meyer, which was later upgraded to red following VAR intervention.

“It has been confirmed that he is going to be suspended for three games,” manager Mikel Arteta told reporters during his press conference on Wednesday.

“It’s a big shame and a big loss for us, because as well we know Auba’s intention when he plays.

“But unfortunately he mistimed the tackle, he made a decision and we have to accept it.”

Aubameyang will now miss Premier League clashes against Sheffield United and Chelsea, and the FA Cup tie against Bournemouth.
