It transpired on Saturday, via a report in AS, that Gareth Bale has denied Real Madrid permission to publish details of his latest injury.

The winger, who has struggled with his fitness since arriving in Spain, picked up another knock recently while on international duty.

But Real did not publish a fitness update about Bale, as they normally do in such situations, at the express request of the player.

In Spanish law, Article 22.4 of Law 31/1995 states that access to medical information of a worker has to be restricted to their personal doctor and the healthcare authorities, which cannot be provided to the employer or other people without the worker’s consent.

AS have issued an update to the story in which they have disclosed the details of why Bale hasn’t given consent for his injury details to be publicised.

Bale has requested privacy due to the pressure he is apparently feeling in the Spanish capital, where he has played just 53% of possible minutes since arriving in 2013.

His representative has also made the request as they apparently do not want constant negative fitness about the Welshman appearing in the media.

That, understandably, has a negative impact on any potential offers for the player as was the case in the summer when no move was forthcoming despite a departure looking likely.

Given that no update has been forthcoming, it is unclear when we will see Bale back on the field for Los Blancos.
