To mark the start of 2020, we’ve dusted off the old Onefootball crystal ball.

If you want to know exactly what’s going to go down this year, you’re in the right place.

Let’s just start with the big one – who will win the Champions League?

Dan Burke: I think Liverpool are the best team in Europe by quite some distance at the moment so my money would be on them.

Ian McCourt: You are going to point and laugh at me for saying this – and, in fairness, you probably should! – but I think it might finally be PSG’s year.

Lewis Ambrose: IF, it’s a big if, Neymar and Mbappé both stay fit, I also think PSG are going to go all the way this time around.

Padraig Whelan: In the Champions League under Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid always seem to lift it and find a way. If they get past Manchester City, it could be theirs.

Phil Costa: Manchester City will push them hard, but I can’t look past Liverpool making it number seven.

What about Euro 2020?

DB: Dare I say England? Dare I? Oh go on then. It’s coming home.

IMC: Belgium are due a big tournament triumph. They won every single one of their games in qualifying. They still have the core of the team that did so well at the last World Cup.mThey will do it.

LA: I was backing the Netherlands but Memphis’ ACL injury complicates that … or allows Donyell Malen and Myron Boadu the chance to shine? Hup hup Holland!

PW: After embarrassing themselves at the last World Cup, I’m fancying Germany to come out swinging in a big way next summer.

PC: France. They have the best squad, a settled system under Didier Deschamps and will be determined to build on their World Cup success.

What will be the biggest managerial change?

Article image:🔮 Onefootball predicts what will happen in football in 2020

DB: Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City at the end of the season and be replaced by Brendan Rodgers.

IMC: It is hard to see Zinedine Zidane lasting long at Real Madrid, especially if the transfers he wants do not come his way.

LA: Mauricio Pochettino will be working somewhere very big and very ambitious next season. I’m plumping for the Bernabéu.

PW: Ernesto Valverde is surely on his last legs at Barcelona. Xavi could be tempted into an emotional return.

PC: Maurizio Sarri won’t be in charge of Juventus next season and they will want Antonio Conte to replace him.

And the biggest transfer of the year?

Article image:🔮 Onefootball predicts what will happen in football in 2020

DB: Real Madrid will finally give up their pursuit of Kylian Mbappé and make an audacious swoop for Raheem Sterling.

IMC: I think Mbappé will probably stay at PSG for one more season so I would expect Jadon Sancho to be the big mover of the year with a fee easily over €100m.

LA: It may not be the biggest fee of the year but I can see Lautaro Martínez moving to become the long-term replacement for either Luis Suárez or Sergio Agüero.

PW: It didn’t happen this summer despite a willingness from several parties. I think Neymar will attempt to engineer another PSG exit in 2020.

PC: Real Madrid will finally pay up for Paul Pogba. It’s a move that makes sense on so many levels and I can’t believe it hasn’t happened yet. Also – Sancho to Liverpool.

What is one thing will we STILL be complaining about in 12 months?

Article image:🔮 Onefootball predicts what will happen in football in 2020

DB: I hate to say this but probably racism.

IMC: VAR. Yuck.

LA: Ticket prices and kick-off times. Because the powers that be don’t care about fans at all.

PW: As Dan said, racism in the game unfortunately seems to be rearing its ugly head again.

PC: Ridiculous packages to watch football. The average fan will need about nine subscriptions next season.

Right, who will win the Ballon d’Or?

Article image:🔮 Onefootball predicts what will happen in football in 2020

DB: If Liverpool win the Champions League it will be Sadio Mané. If they don’t it will be Lionel Messi again.

IMC: It won’t be Messi or Ronaldo, that’s for sure. Should Liverpool win the Premier League and run deep in the Champions League, it could be Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mané.

LA: The passing of the torch is here. Move over Messi, it’s Kylian Mbappé’s turn to wear the crown.

PW: He should have won it this year and after Virgil van Dijk leads Liverpool to a long-awaited league title, he deserves the big individual honour.

PC: Two words. Kylian Mbappé.

Finally, please give us your most wild football prediction for the next 12 months …

Article image:🔮 Onefootball predicts what will happen in football in 2020

DB: The authorities will see sense and scrap the ridiculous VAR project from football altogether. And we will never speak of it again.

IMC: Ronaldo will retire. Probably. Maybe. Actually maybe not. He might go to MLS, though.

LA: Cristiano Ronaldo will not score more than 20 goals in 2020.

PW: Brendan Rodgers will be managing one of the Manchester clubs by next Christmas.

PC: Euro 2020 will give us a record amount of goals – Euro 2016 (108) holds top spot for now.
