Nantes have said their final goodbyes to the late Emiliano Sala on Sunday.
Sala’s death was confirmed during the week after his body was recovered from a tragic plane wreckage just days after he had signed for Cardiff City.
In tribute to the Argentina, his former Nantes team-mates wore black shirts with his name on for their Ligue 1game against Nîmes.
Prior to kick-off, fans displayed a choreograph in memory of their number nine. Sala’s shirt number at Nantes has been retired.
Tickets for the sold out game were priced at €9 as the club looked to give Sala a worthy farewell.
Also before the game, Sala’s daughter presented Nicolas Pallois with the club’s player of the month award for January.
According to Get French Football News, Pallois was Sala’s best friend at the club.
Nantes took a 2-0 lead in the first half but conceded four after the break in a 4-2 defeat.
