Jadon Sancho. The boy is a bit special.
On Saturday, Borussia Dortmund took on fierce rivals Schalke in the Bundesliga’s Revierderby.
And it was the hosts who opened the scoring after just 14 minutes, when Sancho fed Mario Götze with a sublime chipped pass.
The 19-year-old has now registered an astonishing 14 Bundesliga assists this season and according to Opta, that’s the highest tally by an English player in one of Europe’s big five leagues since Frank Lampard also assisted 14 in the Premier League in 2009/10.
And Sancho also tops the list of assists in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
However, the England winger’s joy turned to pain when, during the celebrations of the opening goal, he was struck in the face by an object allegedly thrown at him by a Schalke fan in the stands.
And to compound his misery, Schalke soon turned the game on its head with two goals inside 10 minutes.
