Anthony Lopes was colossal between the posts as Lyon went to RB Leipzig and came away with an unexpected win, blowing Group G wide open.
Not many teams go to Galatasaray and win – Paris Saint-Germain did exactly that on Tuesday thanks to a captain’s performance from Thiago Silva.
An entirely unexpected point for Genk at home to the normally free-scoring Napoli. Not on Wednesday though, as Carlos Cuesta bossed the Partenopei’s forward line to ensure a goalless share of the spoils.
Despite all their attacking talents, it was Achraf Hakimi who netted twice to give Borussia Dortmund a valuable away win at Slavia Prague.
Inter may have lost at Barcelona but the night really belonged to Stefano Sensi. Serie A watchers will know all about the Nerazzurri’s new man, but this was a breakout performance for the rest of Europe.

There are some who have questioned Luis Suárez’s place in this Barcelona side, but those queries were given the short shrift they deserve on Wednesday as the Uruguayan scored both in the Blaugrana’s win over Inter.
An astonishing away performance from Club Brugge at Real Madrid saw the Belgian side come away with a 2-2 draw, with Emmanuel Dennis scoring both of their goals. You – and I can’t emphasise this enough – love to see it.
Comfortably the performance of matchday two, a performance so good that the notoriously stingy L’Equipe graded it 10/10. Serge Gnabry was at his clinical best against Tottenham, scoring four in Bayern’s 7-2 win.
