Seattle need results at home to climb up from the bottom of the table and thatās what they got on Sunday against NYC FC.
In the teamās 3-1 victory over New York City FC, the Sounders got goals from three different midfielders and are now unbeaten in six league matches.
Seattleās utility midfielder Christian Roldan picked up a loose ball inside the New York penalty area before slotting home the gameās first goal in the 36th minute.
The Sounders carried their lead into half-time but doubled their advantage shortly after the intermission. Swedish midfielder Gustav Svensson let rip from distance after receiving a pass fromĀ NicolĆ”s Lodeiro in the 51st minute.
The visitors had been able to connect passes and edge possession throughout the game but did not beat Stefan Frei in Seattleās goal until the 68th minute.Ā JesĆŗs Medina turned home a low cross from Jo Inge Berget on the right flank, giving Frei no chance after his defense failed to clear.
Following New Yorkās goal, Seattle were losing their grasp on the match. NYC looked dangerous on with sustained attacks and left the home side to play on the break.
That was all the Sounders needed for Harry Shipp to score his second goal of the MLS season in the 86th minute. Shipp received a pass from Will Bruin and took a touch in the area before firing a right-footed effort past Sean Johnson at the near post to finish the contest.
Seattle remain in 10th place but the win puts them within touching distance of the top half of the Western Conference standings.
Despite the loss, NYC FC hold onto second place in the Eastern Conference behind just Atlanta United.
