Santos Laguna, 2018 Clausura champions, began their 2018 Apertura campaign in a very successful way with a fantastic second half to defeat upstart Lobos BUAP.
They were forced to respond to an eighth-minute goal by Bryan Rabello, making his debut for Lobos on loan from Santos Laguna. The Chileanâs golazo was jaw-dropping, hitting the ball into the top corner from over 30 yards away to give the visitors a shock lead.
The away side would go to the break in the lead and forced Santos manager Robert Siboldi to make tactical changes that would pay off immediately.
Laguna benefitted from Uruguayan duo to give them all three points on the day. Just two minutes into the second half, Brian Lozano would draw Santos level, catching the Lobos keeper out of position and getting just enough on his shot to bounce the ball into the far corner.
Less than ten minutes later, Jonathan Rodriguez got behind the Lobos defense and blasted one past JosĂ© Antonio RodrĂguez to give Santos a lead they wouldnât surrender.
Santos will travel away to Monarcas on Friday night while Lobos BUAP will host Veracruz on Sunday.
