Manchester City became the first club ever to complete an English domestic treble with a record-equalling FA Cup final victory over Watford on Saturday.
Goals from David Silva, Gabriel Jesus, Kevin De Bruyne and a Raheem Sterling hat-trick meant the Premier League champions lifted their fifth trophy in two seasons and cemented their place in English football history.
The first big chance of the game fell to Watford when a quick break caught Cityâs defence napping in the 10th minute.
Gerard Deulofeuâs pass played Roberto Pereyra clean through on goal but Ederson rushed off his line to make a fine save.
But it was City who made the breakthrough after 26 minutes when the Hornets defence were unable to deal with an awkward bounce in the box and Raheem Sterling nodded it through to Silva.
The Spaniard was just onside and guided a shot past Heurelho Gomes for 1-0.
The Premier League champions then began to dominate the game and in the 38th minute it was 2-0.
Gabriel Jesus latched onto a lovely pass over the top from Bernardo Silva, and the Brazilian was able to squeeze it past his compatriot Gomes at the near post.
However, replays showed that the ball hadnât fully crossed the line before Sterlingâs inexplicable touch, and the goal was officially awarded to the England winger.
Watford pushed for a response in the second half but the game was effectively ended as a contest by substitute De Bruyne just after the hour mark.
The Belgian was fed by Jesus after a quick City break and he rounded Gomes before slotting home for 3-0.
Before long it was 4-0 and Jesus deservedly got his name on the scoresheet at the end of another City counter-attack.
And with 10 minutes of normal time remaining, Sterling grabbed his second of the game to make it 5-0.
Before completing his hat-trick with five minutes to go.
City will cap off a remarkable season when they parade their three trophies through the streets of Manchester on Monday.
