Botafogo saved the best for last as Erik Limaâs 94th-minute goal was enough to give FogĂŁo a 1-0 advantage heading into the Copa Sudamericana second leg, which will take place in Argentina on 20 February.
Though Defensa y Justicia are currently the last unbeaten side in the Superliga, Botafogo was able to hand the Argentine cinderellas their first loss in all competitions since last May.
The match was a hotly-contested midfield battle that featured five yellow cards and just three combined shots on goal.
Thankfully for the home crowd who stayed until the very end, Limaâs blast will live long in the memory, as he scorched his shot into the top corner to give Botafogo an unlikely victory.
