Gustavo Alfaro’s debut in command of Boca Juniors did not go as planned.
A pair of goals from Augusto Lotti proved to be enough as Unión defeated Boca Juniors 2-0 at the Estadio José María Minella in the Torneos de Verano friendly series.
Despite being a friendly match, Boca fielded many of their better players, including Dario Benedetto, goalkeeper Esteban Andrada, Lucas Olaza, Wilmar Barrios, and Cristian Pavón.
Carlos Tevez earned a rare start and was one of a select few Boca players who put in a decent performance, in addition to Emanuel Reynoso, and Sebastian Villa.
However, Boca Juniors as a whole were very poor as an experienced Unión side were able to come out on top.
Augusto Lotti put Unión ahead in the 18th minute before doubling his side’s lead at the hour mark.
Boca Juniors are back in Superliga action on Sunday when they host Aldosivi, while Unión will travel to face River Plate on 23 January.
