Liverpool are doing what all potential champions do – score a hat-full of goals and concede very few. After eight games, they look the team to beat.

Watford, on the other hand, look doomed despite sacking Javi Gracia and re-hiring Quique Sanchez Flores. We wouldn’t be surprised if a leaky Norwich side went down alongside them.

LaLiga

What’s this? No Real Madrid? They may be top of LaLiga but Zinedine Zidane’s men are the epitome of middling when it comes to the stats.

Away from the big clubs, if you’re looking for teams to watch in LaLiga then Villarreal and Real Betis the ones for you – both for very different reasons.

Serie A

For seasoned Serie A-watchers it’s no surprise to see free-wheeling Atalanta at the top of the scoring charts – what is shocking though, is the sight of Sampdoria languishing at the bottom.

Antonio Conte, long seen as a master of the defensive arts, has already imparted his philosophy on Inter, who have been the stingiest backline in the division so far. A title fight with Juventus surely awaits.

Bundesliga

Most goals scored

  1. Bayern Munich: 20
  2. Borussia Dortmund: 19

Fewest goals scored

  1. Köln: 5
  2. Union Berlin/Hoffenheim: 6

  • Paderborn/Augsburg: 19
  • Mainz: 17

  • Borussia Mönchengladbach: 6

Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, are, as is their wont, leading the goalscoring charts. Perhaps though, the more interesting revelation comes at the bottom with table-toppers Borussia Mönchengladbach conceding just six goals.

Can their defensive solidity last the whole campaign and will it see them vie for the title come May?

Paris Saint-Germain are going to win Ligue 1, that’s what this means.

But if you’re after someone other than PSG to watch in France this season, look no further than Angers. They are scoring and conceding, on average, two goals a game. Madness.
