It’s exactly 12 years to the day since Kaká was at the peak of his powers.

AC Milan took on Manchester United in the semi-finals of the Champions League and though the Red Devils won the first leg 3-2, it was Milan’s brilliant Brazilian who stole the show.

Kaká scored both of the Rossoneri’s goals on the night but it was his second which will go down in Champions League history.

With 36 minutes on the clock, he beat Darren Fletcher to a through ball down the line before cutting inside, leaving both Gabriel Heinze and Patrice Evra for dead and slotting calmly past Edwin van der Sar.

Milan won 3-0 in the second leg at San Siro before going onto beat Liverpool in the final, and it was Kaká’s brace at Old Trafford which set them on their way.
