One young Marseille fan saw an opportunity ahead of the clash with Rennes and ran with it. Literally.
Before Sundayâs Ligue 1 match, a supporter whose father died in a car crash on his way to watch Marseille, was invited to take part in a ceremonial kick-off.
However, instead of passing the ball, he sprinted through the Rennes half as players stepped aside and fired the ball into the back of the net.
Having audaciously seized his once in a lifetime chance to score at the Stade Vélodrome, the youngster celebrated wildly, whipping off his shirt and sliding on his knees like any true striker would.
As well as this moment he will cherish forever, the boy has also been welcomed into Marseilleâs biggest group of Ultras and leads chants.
This is why we love football.
