With seven weeks of the Serie A season played, some players have hit the ground running in a big way.

We’re looking at the early stars of the show in Italy so far.

GK – Salvatore Sirigu (Torino)

Some of the saves he has pulled off to win the Granata key points this season have been phenomenal. His match-saving outing against Milan has arguably been the highlight so far.

RB – Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Napoli)

This wasn’t one of the most exciting bits of business done in Serie A over the summer but it could prove to be one of the most astute. Di Lorenzo has looked a clever pick-up for the Partenopei, settling in seamlessly to his new surroundings.

CB – Diego Godín (Inter)

Anyone who thought Atlético let the veteran go because he is finished has been proven wrong. Godín hasn’t arrived in Italy for a late pay-check and has been a calm and confident presence in an almost airtight Inter defence.

CB – Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus)

After Giorgio Chiellini went down with an ACL injury and Matthijs de Ligt failed to show the kind of quality early in Turin that he had at Ajax, Juve may have been very worried.

But Bonucci has gone a long way to mending some of the fences over his controversial move to Milan by steering the ship through choppy waters expertly.

LB – Aleksandar Kolarov (Roma)

Another veteran who doesn’t look like slowing down.

The players around him have largely been inconsistent so far but he remains a pivotal presence at the back, while doing his fair share at the other end too: he already has three goals and an assist!

CM – Stefano Sensi (Inter)

Nicolò Barella was bought for more money but it is the less-heralded arrival who has shone.

He has been the best signing of the Serie A season so far with his outstanding displays week after week.

CM – Miguel Veloso (Verona)

After his long association with Genoa came to an end, the 33-year-old moved to the north east where he has excelled and is leading with the kind of performances that could keep the Mastini up.

His strike against Juventus was one compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo would be proud of.

CAM – Luis Alberto (Lazio)

While Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinković-Savić may get more plaudits, it is the Spaniard who is arguably the true beating heart of this team.

He links it all together seamlessly and has been directly involved in just under half of the Aquile’s 13 goals.

RW – Domenico Berardi (Sassuolo)

This is more like the Berardi we were all expecting when he burst onto the scene in devastating fashion in 2013.

He’s still just 25 and is perhaps experiencing a second coming in his career because he has been dazzling for the Neroverdi, troubling defences and looking lethal, with five goals and two assists.

ST – Duván Zapata (Atalanta)

With six goals and two assists already, we’re just giving him the nod ahead of Ciro Immobile due to his all-round play but in truth it was a coin flip. Both have been devastating.

LW – Franck Ribéry (Fiorentina)

The Frenchman has been a breath of fresh air in Serie A and is enjoying every minute of his time in Florence.

His display at San Siro, for which he received a standing ovation, has been one of the highlights of the season.
