Juventus have dominated Serie A over the past decade but this season looks like it could be the most competitive in decades.
There’s storylines all over the league, top players arriving, old names resurfacing and a genuine sense that this could be the most competitive division in Europe.
Let’s see what’s in store.
Juventus are the clear favourites again this season, and look well set for a ninth-straight Scudetto having added Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot to their already packed squad.
But perhaps this season more than any, a group of rivals are coming strong for their crown. Inter, Napoli and Milan are all ready to run the Bianconeri close.
Brescia, Lecce and Hellas Verona are the three sides who came up from Serie B, with Brescia looking like the most likely to remain in the division come May.
Mario Balotelli is back in Serie A playing for his hometown club, and his goals should be enough to keep the Biancazzurri safe.
Lecce and Hellas Verona don’t look like they will have enough quality to stay in the division, and we think it might be a case of Second Season Syndrome for Parma as well.
Fiorentina have a new owner and a renewed sense of optimism, Roma are now post-Monchi and under the guidance of Paulo Fonseca, while Atalanta are in the Champions League for the first time in their history – surely they can’t get any better?
In the world of football transfers, ‘most’ business is often meant as ‘best’. That’s clearly not always the case, but this time, Inter‘s sweeping changes look to have taken the club to a new level.
A host of new arrivals seemed to have vastly improved their squad with perhaps the biggest coming in the dugout. Antonio Conte’s signing will undoubtedly take this Nerazzurri to new heights.
Home – Sampdoria
Away – Inter
Home – Juventus
Away – Sampdoria
It’s probably going to be closer than it has been, but we’re still going with Juventus.
