🤩 Five new signings we can’t wait to see in pre-season

Let’s face it, pre-season football is often better in theory than it is in reality.

But the best thing about staying up until four in the morning to watch your team field a load of kids against a club you’ve never heard of in some far-flung corner of the globe is it’s often the first glimpse you get of those shiny new summer signings.

And here are five players we’re particularly looking forward to watching in the coming weeks …

Eden Hazard – Real Madrid

The biggest transfer of the summer so far will pull on a Real Madrid shirt for the very first time during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

Los Blancos spent a lot of money on bringing the Belgian to the Bernabeu but it’s almost guaranteed to be money well spent and should put them right back in contention for the big prizes in 2019/20.

Rodri – Manchester City

After three seasons at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has finally got the number 6 he’s been waiting for this summer with the €70m capture of Rodri from Atlético Madrid.

The Spaniard is likely to make his debut against West Ham in the Premier League Asia Trophy and City fans will soon find out whether they really do have the next Sergio Busquets on their hands.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Manchester United

It’s been a summer of discontent so far at Manchester United, dominated largely by talk of Paul Pogba’s desire to get as far away from Old Trafford possible.

But the £50m signing of Wan-Bissaka could very well be remembered as a great bit of business in the coming years. The 21-year-old right-back has a very high ceiling and United fans should get a good look at him during the club’s pre-season trip to Australia.

Frenkie de Jong – Barcelona

After a stellar season at Ajax last year, one of the hottest properties in European football will be strutting his stuff at Camp Nou next season, and he’s bound to fit like a glove.

The Dutch dynamo is likely to make his Blaugrana debut against Chelsea in pre-season, and the good people of Saitama will be very lucky to witness it.

João Félix – Atlético Madrid

It perhaps says everything about the transfer market in 2019 that Atlético were forced to shell out €126m for the signature of a 19-year-old with fewer than 50 senior games under his belt.

But the sky is the limit for the prodigious talent of Félix and pre-season should provide him with an opportunity to acclimatise to his new surroundings with the pressure off and we can’t wait to see what he has to offer.
