Kevin De Bruyne will not feature for Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday as he is suffering from a groin injury.

De Bruyne was substituted in the closing stages of City’s victory at Everton on Saturday and appeared to be clutching his groin as he went off.

The Belgian was not spotted with the rest of his team-mates when Pep Guardiola’s side trained on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Dinamo Zagreb.

And now The Athletic’s Sam Lee reports that the 28-year-old has a groin problem and will undergo tests to determine the full extent and likely lay-off period.

The Premier League champions will be desperately hoping the injury isn’t too serious after De Bruyne spent the vast majority of last season sidelined with a variety of problems.

De Bruyne has so far notched up eight assists in the Premier League this term and joins Leroy Sané, Aymeric Laporte and John Stones in the treatment room.
