Honeyman has signed a three-year deal at Hull, with the option to extend his stay by a further season.

The 24-year-old came through the ranks at local club Sunderland and even captained them in their disappointing League One campaign.

Despite leaving the Black Cats, Honeyman did acknowledge that he is looking forward to a fresh challenge at the KCOM Stadium.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be here as it has been a whirlwind couple of days,” Honeyman told Hull’s website after making the move official.

“It happened so quickly but I’m glad that everything is done and dusted now and I’m so happy to be a Hull City player.

“This is a great club and it is a fresh challenge for me but I’m looking forward to something new and exciting here.”

Aside from a brief spell on loan at Gateshead, this is the first spell of Honeyman’s career spent away from the Stadium of Light.
