Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has signed a new contract with the club.

The new deal runs to 2020, extending his stay at Selhurst Park by one year.

Hodgson, the oldest manager in the Premier League at 71, led Palace to an 11th-place finish last season after taking over with the club bottom of the table.

“I am delighted to have extended my contract with Crystal Palace,” Hodgson said.

“It is a club that has been close to my heart since I was a youngster growing up in the borough of Croydon, and having stood on the terraces in the 1950s, it is a wonderful thing to be managing my boyhood club all these years later.”

Palace begin the new Premier League season away to Hodgson’s former club Fulham on Saturday.
