The death of Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has been confirmed after his helicopter crashed at the King Power Stadium on Saturday night.

Srivaddhanaprabha – aged 61 – leaves the stadium in his helicopter after every home game, but for reasons unconfirmed, suffered a malfunction shortly after taking off.

None of the five people on-board survived the crash.

Leicestershire police confirmed that the other four people on the helicopter were “two members of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s staff, Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, pilot Eric Swaffer and passenger Izabela Roza Lechowicz”.

Srivaddhanaprabha bought Leicester in 2010 for €44m and oversaw their meteoric rise which resulted in a historic Premier League title in 2015-16.

The Thai billionaire also bought second-division Belgian club OH Leuven in May 2017.

Both Leicester’s First Team fixture against Southampton in the EFL Cup on Tuesday and the Development Squad fixture against Feyenoord in the Premier League International Cup have been postponed.
