Hertha BSC head coach Pál Dárdai will leave the club at the end of the season.
Dárdai, who played for the club from 1997-2011 before becoming a youth team coach, has been in charge of the first team since 2015.
However, he will return in 2020 as an academy coach.
The club released a statement on Tuesday confirming a mutual agreement had been reached that a change would benefit all parties.
Hertha have lost five consecutive Bundesliga games.
“These were very intense and eventful years for me as head coach at Hertha BSC,” Dárdai said in an official statement.
“I am grateful for the opportunity I received here and very proud of what we have achieved together during this time, but the time has come for a change.
“I have always emphasised that I care about what is best for Hertha BSC, because Hertha is and always will be my home.”
