Boca Juniors will face last year’s Copa Sudamericana champions Athletico Paranaense in the same half of the bracket. The two sides faced eachother in Group G, with Paranaense winning 3-0 in Brazil before Boca won the return leg 2-1.

Notably, in the other half of the bracket, Flamengo will face Ecuadorian powerhouse Emelec while Grêmio and Libertad will go at once again after trading victories in Group H.

If all plays out, Boca Juniors and River Plate could face one another in Libertadores play once again, this time in the semis, while Brazilian favorites Flamengo and Palmeiras are staring at a potential semi-final clash themselves.

The Copa Sudamericana round-of-32 draw took place, with Fluminense and Atletico Nacional being the most prolific match of the round.

The Recopa Sudamericana will take place on 22 May, with last year’s Libertadores champions River Plate to face Sudamericana champs Athletico Paranaense in Curitiba.
