Chivas officially sign Uriel Antuna from Manchester City

The Ricardo Peláez era has officially started with a monster signing.

On Thursday, Chivas officially announced the acquisition of Mexico international Uriel Antuna from Manchester City on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old winger had a breakout year with both club and country, starring on loan with Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy and helping lead Mexico to the Gold Cup title and qualifying for the CONCACAF Nations League semi-finals.

In 2019, Antuna bagged six goals and six assists in 33 games with the Galaxy and contributed seven goals and five assists in 13 appearances for El Tri.

This will be the first time Antuna plays in Mexico since 2017, when he played just 28 minutes over two appearances for Santos Laguna.

Antuna never featured for City and also spent time on loan with Eredivisie side FC Groningen.
