Alexis Sánchez has been denied entry to the US for Manchester United’s pre-season tour due to problems with his visa, according to reports.

Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail and James Robson of the MEN both tweeted on Monday that Sánchez had not been allowed into America for the International Champions Cup.

United confirmed he did not travel due to ‘personal administrative issues’ but hope to resolve the issue to enable the 29-year-old to join up with the rest of the squad.

According to Daily Mail reporter Wheeler, it is understood Sanchez encountered problems obtaining a visa after accepting a prison sentence for tax fraud in Spain in February having been charged with illegally defrauding the Spanish treasury of £885,000 while at Barcelona.

The Chile international was set to take part in the ICC right away having missed out on appearing at this summer’s World Cup.

While many of his club colleagues appeared at the tournament in Russia, Sánchez is one of the biggest names set to play for the Red Devils in the pre-season competition from the start.

José Mourinho’s side are set to face Milan, fierce rivals Liverpool and Real Madrid during their tour of the States.
