Cavani’s mother, Gómez said: “It’s complicated, but he wants to play at Atlético.

“If not now, then in the summer surely. But it does not depend on my son now, but on Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid.”

PSG are believed to have rejected three bids from Atleti for their wantaway striker.

Cavani has made just nine appearances for PSG this season, accumulating just 330 minutes, and Gómez is incensed with how the Parisians have treated her son.

“I do not understand that they want him to stay and then play six minutes.

“They are not behaving well with him, with everything he has given PSG in the seven years he has been there.

“Now he is angry, because he does not understand that they put obstacles in the way of him leaving.”

Cavani has scored 198 goals in 293 appearances in his seven years at the club since his €55m move from Napoli in 2013.
