Football has stopped almost everywhere around the globe. But FIFA 20 are providing solutions!
Thanks to a new E-Sports initiative, Germany will host Spain in four friendlies involving professionals from the real and virtual world.
Vanessa Fudalla (GER) v Sheila García (ESP) – Final result: 4-4
To kick things off, we started with two representatives of the women’s national teams.
Fudalla took control early on and raced into a 3-1 lead at half time, before a spirited comeback from García saw her turn things around at 3-4.
Staring defeat in the face, the German international somehow equalised late on to salvage a thrilling draw.
MoAuba (GER) v JRA10 (ESP) – Final result: 1-3
Then it was the turn of our e-athletes, with world champion MoAuba facing off against JRA10.
The German was in control and went into half-time with a 1-0 lead, before everything went horribly wrong.
JRA10 was a changed man and showed off some clinical Fifa skills, scoring twice to go ahead, before sealing a third on the break.
Nico Schlotterbeck (GER) v Abel Ruíz (ESP) – Final result: 6-1
For the third fixture, it was the turn of two Under-21 internationals to face off.
Freiburg defender Schlotterbeck took on Abel Ruíz – formerly of Barcelona – and embarrassed him in a true Fifa mismatch.
Ruíz actually took the lead, but it was a ruthless performance from the German who then scored SIX goals without reply.
Bernd Leno (GER) v Marco Asensio (ESP) – Final score: 2-3
And for the grand finale, Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno took on Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio.
The Spaniard showed why he is so highly rated by racing into a two-goal lead, before Leno brought a shock into question with two quick goals.
But Asensio kept his cool and went ahead again, before Leno missed a host of opportunities to equalise late on.
