Dean Henderson (Sheffield United)

Instrumental in Sheffield United’s first away win of the season at Everton, Henderson was at his commanding best all afternoon and made a brilliant save from Moise Kean.

Defence

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

Arguably the best right-back in the Premier League right now, Trent Alexander-Arnold was at his influential best against Chelsea on Sunday, capping his performance off with a sumptuous first half strike.

Nathan Ake (Bournemouth)

Quietly becoming one of the division’s most imposing central defenders, Nathan Ake was brilliant again on Friday as night Bournemouth won away at Southampton – the Dutchman netting his side’s all-important opening goal.

Joël Matip (Liverpool)

Another of Liverpool’s defenders who impressed at Stamford Bridge, Joël Matip actually overshadowed Virgil van Dijk with his positioning and reading of the game and kept the in-form Tammy Abraham quiet all afternoon.

Aaron Cresswell (West Ham)

Although never really tested defensively, Aaron Cresswell is in this team of the weekend purely for his breathtaking free-kick late on in West Ham’s win over Manchester United. Glorious stuff.

Midfield

Andriy Yarmolenko (West Ham)

Another of West Ham’s goalscorers at the London Stadium, it’s been a long road back from injury for Andriy Yarmolenko but he finally looks back to full fitness and will be a vital part of the Hammers fight to qualify for Europe this term.

James Maddison (Leicester)

He hasn’t got much wrong during his time as England manager, but Gareth Southgate’s decision not to give James Maddison any minutes during the two previous Euro 2020 qualifiers must go down as a massive oversight. Maddison was first class against Tottenham, netting the winner late on.

Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City)

What more is there to say about Kevin de Bruyne other than, right now, he’s the best player in the Premier League. It’s that simple.

Bernardo Silva (Manchester City)

Saturday was a good day for Bernardo Silva. Admittedly Watford rolled over in their 8-0 thrashing at the Etihad, but the Portuguese playmaker made every single aspect of the game look like he’d switched his Fifa 20 demo to ‘Amateur’.

Attack

Chris Wood (Burnley)

Norwich came to Burnley as the Man City Slayers, they left being put to the sword by Chris Wood. Two goals for the New Zealand international gave Sean Dyche’s side a comfortable win over the Canaries and further cemented the idea the Clarets will be just fine this season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal)

He left it late, but when Arsenal need a hero right now, they turn to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon international netted a stunning free-kick to give the Gunners a last-gasp win over Aston Villa. They’re quickly becoming a one-man team.
