📸 Champions League Team of the Week: Matchday Four

Goalkeeper

Kyle Walker (Manchester City)

One shot faced, zero goals conceded. Going in goal as an outfield player takes guts and it’s not as easy as it looks – just ask Harry Kane.

Defence

Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund)

How could he not be here? Two goals in a sensational second half saw Hakimi inspire Dortmund to a famous comeback against Inter. He was so good that Antonio Conte subbed left-back Cristiano Biraghi.

José Palomino (Atalanta)

The rock at the heart of Atalanta’s defence, Palomino was the key man as the Serie A side kept Manchester City at bay to win their first ever Champions League draw.

Nordi Mukiele (RB Leipzig)

An all-round excellent performance in tough conditions in St Petersburg. Mukiele is emerging as one of the finest defenders in Germany.

Midfield

Hakim Ziyech (Ajax)

Simply unstoppable and bags of fun, Ziyech was on top form at Stamford Bridge and tormented Chelsea.

Jorginho (Chelsea)

Solid in midfield and kept his cool to strike twice from the penalty spot and turn the game around.

Tomas Souček (Slavia Prague)

Anchoring the away team’s midfield at Camp Nou is a daunting prospect but Souček performed superbly. Positionally disciplined, he plugged the gaps and moved the ball calmly in a famous draw for the visitors.

Julian Brandt (Borussia Dortmund)

Another who was crucial in Dortmund’s comeback. Brandt’s second half performance, capped with the equaliser, was an absolute joy.

Attack

Rodrygo (Real Madrid)

Wow. A Champions League hat-trick at just 18. What more can you say?

Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

Rodrygo is the new kid on the block but Benzema is the brilliant seasoned veteran. Perhaps the ultimate number nine, he continued his fine season with two goals and an assist.

Son Heung-min (Tottenham)

Red Star Belgrade have a formidable home record, making Son’s two-goal haul in a dominant win all the more impressive.
