Gary Cahill may be leaving Chelsea this summer but he isn’t retiring.
In fact, that was something he was very clear about when the 33-year-old was quizzed about his future.
However, it appears his old Blues teammate Álvaro Morata didn’t get the message.
Following the England defender’s Chelsea farewell on Sunday after his final home game against Watford, Morata sent a message of congratulations to Cahill on Instagram.
He did so under the pretence that the former Bolton man was calling time on his career, until Marcos Alonso corrected him.
“Congratulations on your great career,” Morata wrote to Cahill on Instagram. “It was a pleasure to play by your side.”
“He isn’t retiring brother,” Alonso replied, accompanied by laughing emojis.
Yet another case of close but not quite on target for Morata at Chelsea.
