Campeonato Paulista

Guarani 2-1 Corinthians

Guarani, who finished in ninth in Serie B last season, upset the 2017 Brasileirão champions with first-half goals from Diego Cardoso and Rondinelly to complete a very unlikely comeback.

Gustavo Henrique had opened the scoring for Corinthians in the ninth minute.

Palmeiras 1-0 Botafogo-SP

The Brasileirão champions bounced back from a shock draw at Red Bull Brasil with a win over newly-promoted second-division side Botafogo-SP (not to be confused with Botafogo in Rio).

Deyverson scored the game’s only goal in the 21st minute.

Campeonato Carioca

Botafogo 0-0 Bangu

Botafogo were unable to bounce back from a shock loss at Cabofriense and now have one point through two games.

Henrique Dourado pulled off the goal of the night with a stunning overhead kick just minutes after Joseph opened the scoring.

Flamengo are now second in their group, behind Boavista, on four points.

Vasco escaped with a victory thanks to three second-half goals after blowing an initial two-goal lead.

Marrony led Vasco with a brace.

After scoring twice in the opening 12 minutes, Bahia overpowered their recently-relegated Serie D opposition with five second-half goals.

Six different players scored for Bahia, including a brace from Gilberto.

Avai were locked in a tight battle until a pair of goals in the final five minutes put the match far out of reach.

Chapecoense 1-0 Criciuma

Victor Andrade scored the only goal of the match in the 65th minute to down their Serie B foes.

Campeonato Mineiro

Tombense 1-0 Atlético Mineiro

Atlético were victims of a shock upset by the Serie C side thanks to a 49th-minute goal from Juan.

Cruzeiro 1-0 Patrocinense

Last year’s Copa do Brasil champions are off to a flying start in the Campeonato Mineiro with two wins from two.

The Copa Sudamericana champions were held by a club that celebrated its 11th birthday on Wednesday.
