👶 The five best Under-23 performances of the weekend

Some of the best and brightest across the continent were strutting their stuff again this weekend.

We had perfection from some and wonder goals from others still in the early stages of their career.

Here are our top five Under-23 performances from the weekend …

Christian Pulisic

For the second straight week, it is one of Frank’s fledgling talents at Chelsea who impressed most.

After falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge, Pulisic was back for the Blues’ visit to Burnley and popped up with an unexpected perfect hat-trick.

Captain America has well and truly arrived.

Amad Diallo Traoré

Who is this, we hear you ask? Don’t worry if you haven’t heard of him.

Prior to this weekend, Atalanta’s 17-year-old’s striker had never played in a senior Serie A fixture.

But he was brought on as a substitute in La Dea’s 7-1 rout of Udinese and it took him just six minutes to find the net – becoming the first player born in 2002 to do so in Italy’s top flight.

Mohamed Simakan

The Strasbourg defender is just 19 and is in his first year of top flight football.

But you wouldn’t have known it watching his stellar outing at the back on Saturday, helping his side to a 1-0 win over Nice.

Comfortable in both the centre and at right-back, he has a very bright future in the game.

Mohammed Salisu

The 20-year-old arrived at Real Valladolid from an academy in Ghana and has excelled this season at the heart of defence.

His finest outing of the campaign came on Saturday against Eibar as he kept a clean sheet with a solid display and grabbed his first goal in LaLiga at the other end.

What a find he is proving to be.

Marcus Thuram

If he carries up this fantastic form, he’ll be known as much more than the son of Lilian.

The 22-year-old was unstoppable again against Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring and assisting to send Borussia Mönchengladbach top of the Bundesliga.

It means he has now been directly involved in six goals in his last five games.
