If this is a preview of what he’ll bring back to the Premier League this season, Newcastle fans no longer need to worry about the fitness levels of Miguel Almirón.
After missing the final three games of the Premier League season with a hamstring injury, Almirón has come back and been one of Copa America’s top performers.
During Paraguay’s 1-1 draw against Argentina, Almirón began his run with a fantastic dummy and went on a sprint well over 60 yards before crossing to find Olimpia’s Richard Sanchez in the middle for the opening goal of the match.
In their opening match against Qatar, Almirón capped off a phenomenal performance by setting up Derlis González to give their side a 2-0 lead.
Unfortunately for Paraguay, Qatar battled back to earn a 2-2 draw.
Through two matches, Paraguay are in second place on two points and can clinch a place in the Copa America quarter-finals with a win over Colombia on Sunday.
