What a night for Ajax as they took care of business in their Champions League opener, dispatching Ligue 1 side Lille 3-0 on Tuesday night.
Though last yearâs European semi-finalists came into the tournament with low expectations after losing Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong, and Kasper Dolberg in the summer window, it was their newcomers who stole the show.
It only took Dutch international Quincy Promes 18 minutes to open the scoring for the defending champions before former Club AmĂ©rica star Edson Ălvarez netted his first goal for the club.
Not only that, the Mexico international scored in some style as well before NicolĂĄs Tagliafico finished the French side off just after the hour mark. Take a bow, son!
